Group Controller at Västerås City
Do you want to work in a strategic key role where you can combine business acumen, analysis, and public benefit? Here you will contribute to the development of a strong and sustainable municipal group. You will work closely with both company management boards and political decision-makers on matters concerning acquisitions, business models, governance, and long-term economic development. This role is ideal for someone driven by complex business matters, strategic work, and creating value in an operation that has a significant impact on society.
Your Responsibilities
As a Group Controller, you play a central role in ensuring business viability within Västerås City’s group. The role involves close collaboration with the group’s companies, where you contribute both strategically and operationally with analyses, financial assessments, and the development of business models. You work on matters concerning acquisitions, divestments, and other business transactions, primarily within the real estate and energy sectors, but also in other areas of operation.
You analyze the companies' financial conditions and business plans based on the various needs of the operations as well as the owners' long-term requirements and goals. The assignment also includes developing ownership governance for the companies and contributing proposals regarding company formations, group structures, and service functions. You coordinate various management functions and work closely with politics, boards, and company management on different business models and development issues.
An important part of the role is the ability to pedagogically present complex financial analyses and decision support materials to recipients who do not always have an economic background. You actively participate in ownership meetings and other forums within wholly and partially owned companies, and you build and develop internal and external networks. You excel at identifying issues that have "fallen between the cracks" by bridging gaps in the organization, enabling us to create better quality and efficiency in our processes together.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a university degree in economics or equivalent. You have several years of experience in qualified financial work. It is positive if you have worked with business controlling in private operations. We would appreciate it if you have experience with business transactions such as acquisitions and sales within corporate operations.
You have experience in long-term financial analysis and very good knowledge of MS Office tools such as Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in project management, coordination of various stakeholders, and working closely with company management is meritorious. If you are accustomed to presenting materials in a pedagogical manner both in writing and verbally, this is a strength, as is experience with business management and successful change management. You express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
As a person, you are strategic and have the ability to see the big picture and long-term consequences. You are goal- and results-oriented and thrive in a role where you can drive issues forward and create development together with others. You find it easy to collaborate and build trusting relationships.
What We Offer
An opportunity to work in a developmental and socially important role with significant strategic impact. You will become part of an organization where business viability and long-term perspective are combined with social responsibility and sustainable development.
